For years, our company has actively pursued projects at Camp David, recognizing the prestige and significance associated with such endeavors. After persistent efforts, we are thrilled to finally have the opportunity to contribute to projects at this esteemed presidential retreat. Securing this opportunity marks a milestone for our company and reflects our commitment to excellence in our field. One of our favorite designed includes the Evergreen Chapel challenge coin. This endeavor marks a significant milestone for us, as we embrace the chance to craft a symbol of reverence for such a historic and esteemed location. We're committed to infusing every detail of the challenge coin with the same spirit of excellence and prestige embodied by the Evergreen Chapel itself. Camp David Evergreen Chapel Presidential Retreat Challenge Coin is the first official coin ever created for the Evergreen Chapel.

The Evergreen Chapel, nestled within the serene confines of Camp David, serves as a sanctuary for presidents and their guests. Its tranquil surroundings amidst the Catoctin Mountain Park provide a serene backdrop for moments of reflection and spiritual solace. Presidents have utilized the chapel for religious services, weddings, and private prayer, highlighting its importance as a place of worship and contemplation. The chapel's architecture reflects a sense of simplicity and reverence, emphasizing its role as a retreat from the demands of the presidency. With its rich history and significance to the presidential retreat, the Evergreen Chapel stands as a symbol of faith and spirituality within the highest echelons of American leadership.

Let’s be real: this coin held us emotionally hostage for weeks—and we loved every second of it. Imagine holding a fragment of sacred stillness in your palm, like someone bottled up the hush of a chapel and pressed it into metal. That’s what we were chasing. We weren’t designing for Camp David—we were designing with it, channeling the soul of a place where power and prayer intersect.

Start here—diamond center, gleaming copper lines, and the Presidential Seal itself cradled in a layout that gently whispers presence. That center diamond? It’s no accident. It’s nestled inside a stained-glass-inspired tree—YES, a tree—because we didn’t want this coin to shout “Commander-in-Chief.” We wanted it to reflect the quieter role the President often holds behind the scenes: mourner, listener, counselor, human.

Around it, we threw out the idea of a typical circle. Octagon or nothing. That eight-sided frame is a direct architectural echo of the chapel itself, right down to the window geometry. We obsessed over the angles. The math had meaning. And that nameplate—“Camp David – Presidential Retreat”—feels like it was carved from the chapel pews themselves. Quiet, unshakable, rooted.

Look closer and you’ll see tiny brick-like limbs stretching from the center tree. They’re not random. Those are drawn from the actual chapel walls, and we fought tooth and nail to preserve that textured detail in metal. We were on a mission to reflect the bones of the building, not just its silhouette. And oh—the green enamel? That wasn’t a design choice. It was a calling.

Then you flip it—and BOOM. Suddenly, you're swimming in stained glass. We recreated a window from Evergreen Chapel that shows waves, a dove, and divine light—all tangled together like a visual psalm. It’s subtle, swirling, and unapologetically spiritual. We agonized over the color placement here. Like “one more tweak and I’m gonna cry into my enamel samples” kind of agony.

That diamond still anchors the design, but now the feeling is celestial. This is the side where memory comes to rest. At the base is the nameplate: “Dedicated by President George H. W. Bush – 1991.” Which honestly gives us chills. This wasn’t ceremonial fluff. It was a presidential legacy etched into wood, brick, glass—and now metal.

The colors carry over—greens, coppers, that rich teal-blue—but this side leans into the stained-glass storytelling. If the other side is a whisper, this one is a hymn. Not loud, but layered. Every swirl is doing the emotional heavy lifting.

Each coin has a unique number.

Holding this coin feels like holding breath. It’s reverent. Weighty without being heavy. Emotional without being loud. This coin’s for presidents, chaplains, aides, family members—for anyone who’s ever walked that wooded path to the chapel and needed a moment to just be.

And for us? This wasn’t just a project. It was a pilgrimage. We went full monk-mode on material selection. The green had to feel forest-floor grounded. The copper had to glow like candlelight. Even the way the octagon fits in your fingers—we tested until it felt right.

This coin doesn’t just honor Evergreen Chapel—it invites you inside.

The chapel was dedicated be President George H.W. Bush in 1991. We recently learned coin numbers 41 and 43 were gifted to President George W. Bush. We're continuously reflecting history within our work, but sometimes we get to be a part of something sweetly sentimental. 😭
