Some partnerships are just meant to be. From the first time we sat down to sketch out a coin for Jack Daniel’s, something clicked. Maybe it was the Southern soul. Maybe it was the shared love of good stories and great craftsmanship. All we know is—we’ve been pouring our hearts into these projects ever since, and it never gets old.

Our Long-Running Friendship with Jack Daniel’s

If you’ve been around Challenge Design for more than a minute, you’ve probably heard us gush (just a little) about our longtime partnership with Jack Daniel’s. We’ve worked on so many projects over the years—from commemorative pieces to exclusive collector designs—that at this point, we feel like we’ve earned honorary Squire status ourselves. There’s just something about their legacy—the craftsmanship, the stories, the unmistakable Tennessee pride—that makes every project feel like a handshake and a history lesson all in one. Whether it’s a coin for a limited release or a tribute to the heritage of the brand, we always pour a little extra soul into anything with the Jack name on it.

Jack Daniel’s No. 27 Gold – A Coin-Worthy Finish

Of all the incredible bottles in Jack’s lineup, one in particular gave us chills—in the best way—Jack Daniel’s No. 27 Gold. This isn’t your standard sip. It’s a double-barreled, double-mellowed whiskey finished in golden maple barrels—which, honestly, feels like something you’d bottle up and save for life’s finest moments. Smooth doesn’t even begin to describe it. When we were asked to design for No. 27, we knew the coin needed to match that elegance and warmth. Think rich gold tones, clean lines, and a sense of legacy you can feel in your hand. This wasn’t just about designing something cool—it was about honoring the refinement that comes with every drop of that whiskey.

The Tennessee Squire Association – Where Legends (and Jokes) Are Born

But Jack Daniel’s isn’t just about elegant pours—it’s about community, tradition, and a wink of Southern humor. The Tennessee Squire Association—if you know, you know. It’s part VIP club, part inside joke, and fully a badge of honor among Jack Daniel’s fans. We’ve always loved the quirk and charm of it—owning a square inch of land in Lynchburg? Come on, that’s genius. Designing for the Squires is always a good time because it’s a blend of reverence and just enough mischief to keep things interesting. These folks are die-hard loyal, deeply proud, and always up for a toast. Every time we get to create for this crew, we try to bottle up that spirit of community, tradition, and tongue-in-cheek Southern charm—and turn it into something they’ll actually want to show off at their next cookout. All of that—the heritage, the elegance, the cheeky charm—came together in one unforgettable coin.

Okay, listen—this one had us SWEATING in the best way. The Jack Daniel’s Maple Wood Challenge Coin? She’s a STUNNER. Dual-plated in silver and gold like a high-end whiskey label (because OF COURSE), with that traditional round shape that feels like it could have slid right off an old distillery desk.

One side holds the iconic Jack Daniel’s No. 27 logo in deep black—mysterious, classy, very “I age in barrels and take no nonsense.” Below that, a sleek black plaque with “GOLD” stamped in, well, gold. Because subtlety is overrated. And just when you think you’ve taken it all in—boom—Maple Wood Finish graces the bottom edge like a whispered secret for those who know their whiskey. Black border circling the whole thing, tying it all up like a tailored tuxedo.

Flip it over and it’s a straight-up nod to tradition. The Tennessee Squire Association logo takes center stage—our noble black stallion mid-stride with a hat-tipping gentleman aboard. (Honestly? We tried to give the stallion as much power as a glass of the good stuff hitting a Friday night.) Framed in a gold decorative border that screams Southern elegance and sealed with a bold black band, it’s the kind of coin you don’t just keep—you display. Maybe on a barrel. Maybe next to your favorite bottle. Definitely somewhere with good lighting. Because this coin? She’s not just a souvenir. She’s a whole mood.

We like to think this coin doesn’t just sit pretty—it smells like whiskey and campfire stories. Like old guitars and back porch laughs. It was designed to feel like Tennessee itself: warm, bold, unapologetically proud. And if you’ve ever been part of the Squire Association or poured a glass of No. 27 on a night that needed it—you know this isn’t just branding. It’s belonging. This coin holds that weight in its edges. We didn’t just design it. We bottled a whole culture into metal. And honestly? We’ll drink to that.

Designing for Jack Daniel’s is never just about aesthetics—it’s about honoring a story that’s still being written. With every coin, we get to add a small chapter. And whether you’re a Squire, a whiskey lover, or just someone who appreciates things made with heart, we hope you feel the legacy in your hands. Here’s to the next pour, the next laugh, and the next coin worth keeping.
